In keeping with our child centered philosophy, we have a flexible schedule that reflects on the children’s interests, abilities and needs. We provide times for quiet and busy play; sleep time, outdoor and indoor activities, and structured and free play. Our program is filled with sensory experiences that emphasize the importance of their environment and relationships. Our teachers provide an unparalleled level of interaction while individually nurturing each child.

We at BTS believe that early care and education is a partnership between the family and the centre. Sharing of information is a vital component of high quality childcare program. Our classroom information board is one way that we can keep families informed. Information such as how each child slept and ate is recorded on the daily sheets and can be found by the changing table. Parents are encouraged to speak with their child’s teachers for an update on their child’s day and their progress.
We believe that diaper changes are an excellent opportunity for one on one interaction with the children. The teachers will sing, play and talk with the children while changing their diapers. We follow all public health guidelines for diaper changing routines.

We are committed to providing a nurturing, inviting and stimulating program that will allow each child to develop at his or her own pace. We plan developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that focus on all areas of development. We base all learning opportunities on each individual child’s interests, abilities and needs. Some of the program areas are: Creative Arts, Social/Emotional, Dramatic Play, Blocks, Sensory Exploration, Music & Movement, Large and Small Muscle, and Language. Please remember to take your child’s daily sheet to find out specific activities that your child might have enjoyed each day.

We believe that each child develops at his or her own pace. With this in mind we will never force a child to sit on the toilet or potty. However, at each diaper change, we will ask your child if they would like to try sitting on the potty. We also bring a few children into the bathroom at the same time to encourage learning from each other.

A preschooler's world opens up in new ways as children improve coordination, learn complex games, and begin to interact more with their peers. Our Preschool program introduces language, math, science and social skills in a logical, natural sequence to encourage learning one step at a time. Our teachers also provide plenty of individual attention to support your child's unique needs.

Our program provides a rich classroom environment where children are encouraged to explore and are challenged to learn, while making friends and developing self-confidence. They strengthen their cognitive skills with fun memory games in which they match objects that share similar characteristics. And, because children learn best by doing, we provide opportunities for hands-on experiences, such as creating collages, which combines creative expression with a tactile experience. We also provide learning experiences, materials that are age appropriate and instruction which encourages creative thinking, problem solving and respect for others. Language and literacy skills, science, mathematics, social studies, art, drama and music are all part of the Creative Curriculum. The children go down for their naps/rest after lunch, around 12:30pm. Children who do not normally sleep will be given quiet activities on their beds. Provincial licensing requirements state that each child under the age of 6 years needs to have at least 1 hour of rest time/sleep time each day.

Pre-kindergarten is a critical time for children as they begin the adventure of a lifetime of learning. Our Pre-kindergarten program promotes independence while preparing your child for the next exciting phases—kindergarten! We make the transition smoother by helping children become more familiar with an organized environment. We focus on group play to develop social skills, such as listening, sharing, and cooperation. Our teachers have a passion for what they do and consider it a privilege to partner with you during this special time in your child’s life. Our goal for all preschoolers is to help prepare them to be successful in Kindergarten and reach their full potential.
